I put the trust Caster 12.5 in at the Wilbur Boat House a few minutes before sunrise. Messed around with a new rod and reel on land waiting for enough light to launch. Once I could see where I was going, I was off.
All the charts said today was not going to be a good day to fish, but any day fishing is a good day to fish. Sadly the charts where right. I did catch fish, but they were all about an hour apart.
First fish was a tiny Redfish, only about 8” long. About an hour later I caught a 12lb jack that pulled me around the channel for about 10 minutes. Those fish just do not quit! I then caught a few undersized flounder (about an hour or so apart).
I decided to start to head back to the boathouse and use the current to my advantage and drift back. I was literally to the point where I put my feet overboard to turn to the side and start to stow all the rods for a quicker paddle in when a 18” trout found its way to my drifting mullet.
Well that was all for the day, I paddled in and called it a day!
