At sun rise I launched my kayak near Ponce Inlet. The mullet have been VERY thick for the past week or two, so I figured the fish that feed on the mullet would be think as well!
About 10 minutes into the trip I hook into a decent blue fish (about 20”, that is big this far south) but after getting a good look at it, it sawed through my 20lb leader.
5 minutes later, the first flounder of the day!
Then 5 more minutes and an under slot red
I land a few more flounder, none more than 14”. Then the jacks and ladyfish showed up. Both these fish put on a good fight and the ladyfish fight just like a tarpon, only much smaller.
The winds pick up as a front moved in. 25 mph in my face for the entire paddle back, against the current as well. That was quite a work out!
