Tamoka River Tips/Techniques
The Tamoka River is a narrow river that has tidal influenced current. The narrow winding nature of the river offers quite a bit of protection from the mid-day winds that are so frequent in Florida.
This river offers multiple canal mouths that often hold fish as well as a few popular bridges that hold fish. Focus on these areas until you are more familiar with the river. A popular bait of choice is Berkley Gulp Alive Shrimp.
Gulp Alive Shrimp catch most of the game fish found in the river. A popular technique is to use a ¼ oz. Jig head and slowly bounce them off the bottom.
Live bait is available in the area at local bait shops and finger mullet can often be cast netted at the boat launches.
